Barbara will play the role of Grandma Rosie in Aberdeen and Inverness.

Barbara is a well-known and much loved Scottish actress probably best known for playing Ella Cotter in Rab C Nesbiit and starring in BBC Scotland drama River City as Shirley Henderson.  But having played Granma Mainland in the CBBC hit show Katie Morag, she has gained a whole new legion of fans.

Her other television credits include Hamish MacBeth, Rockface, How to Become a Rock Star, Take the High Road, Sea of Souls, Doctors, Garrow’s Law, Katie Morag and most recently Shetland.

Barbara played a beautiful cameo in Robert Carlyle’s directorial debut, The Legend of Barney Thompson.  Her other films include The Last King Of Scotland, The Wicker Man, Women Talking Dirty, Billy Bingo and A Fine Romance.

Barbara has worked in most theatres in Britain, her most recent show being Endgame at The Citizens Theatre and The Devil Masters at the Traverse.  After this she starred in the hugely popular True West at the Citizens Theatre which then transferred to the Tricyle theatre in London. She has also played a variety of pantomime characters over the years at the Kings Theatre, Glasgow and His Majesty’s Theatre Aberdeen.
